Iranti has recently been made aware of the dire situation in Egypt whereby more than 50 persons have been arrested after a “rainbow flag” was proudly displayed at a concert in Cairo last month. Egyptian authorities have no legal basis for the arrests by the laws of their own country, but despite this, homophobic sentiment remains high. We intend to work closely with our comrades and allies in Egypt, as well as those elsewhere on the continent, to remedy this injustice.
