Iranti’s team of 10 staff members have each been equipped to continue to do our important work from our homes in line with President Ramaphosa’s guidelines to practice social distancing.
Not only do we want to protect our staff but also the community in which we work hence we have planned to take our events online through webinars.
Iranti has equipped our staff to work from home through the following ways:
- Provided mobile Wi-Fi routers with data sim cards,
- Purchased professional headsets with microphones, and
- Providing staff with airtime.
In order to ensure that work is going to schedule, staff have each written up weekly work plans as well as continue with their meetings online. We are using online tools and getting training on them for example, we are using Microsoft teams.
Iranti has been looking for new ways in which we can move our advocacy online for example, making our work more accessible through visual mediums.
Many challenges arise because of the drastic changes that have been made and the real threat and risk the virus has on our staff therefore we are making provisions for staff who wish to seek therapy at this time, if they feel distressed. Iranti is also paying for staff to get the flu vaccine in preparation for winter.
We thank our donors who are supporting programmatic shifts and offering infrastructural support in permitting us to work and take care at the same time.
