About the opportunity
Iranti is a Johannesburg based regional non-profit organization (NPO) founded in June 2012 focusing on lesbian, transgender and intersex rights. Iranti participates in national, regional and global advocacy platforms to develop a deeper understanding of human rights violations, and seeks ways to change policies, laws and individual mindsets and behaviours to end homophobia, transphobia and intersexphobia from an intersectional lens. Iranti does this using multi-media platforms, advocacy, research and documentation.
An opportunity exists for a strategic and skilled programme manager to collaborate and build on a nine-year history of innovative programmes on LBQTI advocacy and movement building. Reporting to the Director, the Programmes Manager will be part of the management team providing leadership and direction by conceptualising, developing, and implementing programmes that support Iranti’s mission and expand its presence and impact.
The Programmes Manager’s primary responsibilities will include the following:
- Manage and lead the Iranti advocacy strategy by managing and ensuring high-level implementation at national, regional, and international level.
- Ensuring employee engagement and ownership by managing the Iranti programmes team performance and professional development.
- Implementing and managing effective financial management, fundraising, reporting and M&E in the Programmes area and organizationally.
The Programmes Manager must be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the links between advocacy research, community building, campaigning, and media work with a proven track record in conceptualization, design and delivery of effective impactful LGBTI programmes advancing the rights of Trans, Lesbian and Intersex persons, within agreed time frames and budgets.
Iranti is looking to appoint a graduate with 2-5 years’ work experience in the human rights sector preferably in a programme management role with advanced project and programme management skills, technical advocacy and stakeholder management skills and strong people, communication, and financial management skills.
Compensation will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate and the Iranti salary range for the position.
