This weekend saw Cape Town Pride’s annual parade, but despite South Africa’s progressive laws on a continent where homosexuality is still outlawed in the majority of countries, acceptance and understanding within local communities remains low, while violence against queer bodies continues.
Iranti Executive Director, Jabulani Pereira, appeared on eNCA’s nationally broadcast feature, postNight, to talk about the ongoing human rights violations, discrimination and violence still faced by many LGBTI+ Africans to date.
We are glad to have had the opportunity to engage and raise awareness on a large public platform such as eNCA, and believe that through such discussions and the tireless work of our brave communities, meaningful change can and will happen.
